I give other people the advice I refuse to take

like if I can’t use it maybe they can

And it’s always the correct and good advice

the kind that could bring me relief and help plan


Out my days and see what I can control

“you don’t need it all figured out right now”

Yet I watch it go in one ear and out the other

I really really want to know how


To keep that advice for myself for once

and allow myself to slow down a bit

I’m running so fast but I’m not being chased

I’m searching for non existent brakes to hit


One day it’ll all be over

I’ll have won the invisible race in my mind

but for now I hope if I give you this wisdom

that it leads to the peace I can’t seem to find
