September's Submission Theme: "Fresh Starts"

We’re so excited to share our very first monthly theme here at Next Wave! September’s theme is: Fresh Starts.

*Before we dive in, remember: themes are just for inspiration. You can always submit anything you’re working on, whether it connects to the theme or not.

Why Fresh Starts?

September feels is not only the ultimate reset button, but the time of year you get back into a daily rhythm. New classes, new routines, new friends, new opportunities and more. That’s why our first theme celebrates everything that comes with starting something new.

When you see Fresh Starts, think of:

• Back-to-school- the first day, reuniting with old friends, fall sports, and school spirit

• Fall Vibes- sweaters, crisp air, pumpkin spice, and awaiting Halloween to come around.

• Anything you feel or appears in your life when you're starting a new school year and makes your fall exciting.

Remember, you don’t have to stick to these. Interpret the theme however you want. It's your work after all.

Important Dates for this September Round-Up

Our post for submissions is preferred to be up by September 29th, the second to last day of the month. Don't think of this as a deadline, because submissions that follow this theme after that date will still be accepted, they’ll just roll over into future features. Be sure to get your submissions in before then if you’d like them to be featured in September’s themed post.

How to Submit

No matter what, you still submit the same way. Head to our submissions page or scroll down to the bottom of the home page and fill out our submission form. This is your chance to be spotlighted and connect with a growing community of young creatives.

Once again, themes are meant to spark ideas, not limit them. If you’ve already been working on something that doesn’t fit “Fresh Starts,” send it anyway! You never have to follow the theme, or you can create something new every month.

Let’s kick off this very first theme together and make September a month full of new beginnings.
